The Module Format
  • Allows for synchronous and asynchronous sessions
  • Paced to allow participants time to analyze the buildings;
  • Analysis will move from buildings to environments and finally, to ideas for conservation

Last October 2019, the UST College of Architecture recently organized “Defining Modern: A Discussion of Modern Built Heritage in the Philippines,” held at the UST Beato Angelico AVR. The activity was made possible through the support of the modern ASEAN architecture (mASEANa) Project and the University of Tokyo.
Module 1: Building
  • These are discussions of 1-2 buildings in smaller groups (1 mentor, 2-5 students) done synchronously or asynchronusly.
Module 2: Environment
  • This module revolves around the merging of certain groups from module one to discuss a wider scope of setting and environment in modern architecture. These merged groups are now called CLUSTERS. Done synchronously or asynchronously.

Module 3: Beyond
  • A call to action. This is the synthesis of the whole proceedings leading to the formulation of the steps in conserving modern heritage done by means of a culminating activity.
Outputs
Module 1: Individual Building Analysis (Via Google Slides)
Module 2:
  • Digital posters in A1 format (thematic analysis of environment survey)
  • Digital Storymap of the thematic analysis via knight lab.
  • Short presentation of the thematic analysis
